Collaborative Data Access Update
Dear Collaborative Ground Segment Point of Contact,

We would like to inform you of some planned changes in the distribution schema for the Sentinels data access towards the Collaborative Ground Segment partners to be implemented following the summer break.

While many of the CollGS partners have adapted their interfaces to the new Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem there is still quite a few that rely on the interfaces of the legacy Data Hub (DHuS) services.

As you ar probably aware, the collaborative hub service consists of 3 nodes from which the various partners are downloading data. Since October ’24 the main node has been operating directly on the CDSE, the node 2 on OVH and node 3 in GRNET. All nodes are running the DHuS software with the familiar APIs for search and download.

Since the legacy DHuS software is now over 10 years old it is becoming necessary to plan the obsolescence of this software. A replacement solution has been proposed to those partners relying on the Open Source developed in the frame of the Collaborative GS support – this the “GSS” catalogue. The GSS catalogue is capable to interface directly the CDSE and other GSS instances and should allow the decommissioning of all DHuS software instances.

We would like to give more time to CollGS partners adapting to the CDSE & GSS and propose the following high level timeframe

In the period between mid October 2024 and Novermber 2024 the ColHub node 2 in OVH will switch from running the DHuS software to the GSS

This will provide a fully operational reference for all adopters of the GSS

However, current users of the CohHub node 2 will have to re-configure their downloads towards the main node or node 3

The operations of all 3 nodes will be extended until end of June 2025

We believe this will provide sufficient time to adapt all interfaces towards CDSE or GSS instances

Detailed information will be provided via the JIRA instance used for communications with the various operations teams, and as usual any questions can be directed operations team at colhub.support@copernicus.esa.int . In case of any need please also feel free to reach out to Jolyon Martin or Razvan Cosac in CC.

We would plan a dedicated hybrid meeting for the DHuS / Data Hub Relay operators in November 2024 to demonstrate the new layout of the Collaborative network and feedback for any necessary fine tuning of the operations

Finally, with apologies for the delay, I attach the executive summary of the last Collaborative Ground Segment workshop, if you would have any comment please feel free to feedback over the summer period, we would the publish the summary together with the various presentations in September.

Considering the intensive period on the horizon with the planned launches and commissioning of Sentinel-2C and 1C we would be proposing to hold the next Collaborative Ground Segment workshop in early 2025, a confirmation and save the date will be sent in the autumn.
