Copernicus Sentinel-3 OLCI/ SYNERGY Products: New Processing Baseline

We are pleased to announce a new processing baseline ID for Copernicus Sentinel-3 concerning the following products:

  • OLCI L2 products OL_2_LFR
  • SYNERGY L2 products SY_2_SYN and SY_2_VGP
The new Processing Baseline includes:

  • Update of the Neural Network used in the cloud flagging for OL_2_LFT, SY_2_SYN and SY_2_VGP products. The cloud and snow mask applied on these products has been improved. On SYNERGY products, this evolution is having a larger impact on the products as a better cloud representativity will improve the filtering of cloudy pixels before the aerosol retrieval and then an improved AOD and Surface directional reflectance datasets. This cloud and snow mask is also transferred to SYNERGY VGP-like and VGS-like products

  • Review of the OL2 GiFAPAR uncertainties algorithm. A revision of all the coefficients leading to the computation of the GIFAPAR have been conducted, added to the implementation of an updated way to include the algorithms’ contribution to the products uncertainty. This modification is performed at each algorithm step: reflectance normalization, reflectance rectification and GIFAPAR computation.
Note that few minor corrections have been also included on SL_2_FRP, SL_2_LST, SY_2_AOD and SY_2_VGS products but without any impact on data quality or content.

The new processing baseline has been deployed on 09/10/24 for S3A and S3B.

Maintenance activity at Cloudferro side - 15 October 2024

A maintenance activity is foreseen on 15 October 2024 from 15-10 20:00 UTC to 16-10 03:00 UTC

During the maintenance window, the Collaborative Data Hub Node 1 will not be accessible.

Collaborative Hubs Nodes 2 and 3 will be available but no fresh products will be published.

The activity will be preceded by a safe shutdown of the service, and it will be reopened on 16 October at around 9:00 AM with a downtime of approximately 12 hours.

Maintenance disruption will generate a backlog that will be recovered in the following 24 Hours.
