Maintenance on ColHub Node 2 and Node 3 (24-25 October 2018)

Collaborative Data Hub users are informed that the DHuS software on ColHub Node 2 and Node 3 will be be updated to the version already available on ColHub Node 1.
No service downtime or products publication delays are foreseen but download interruptions might occur during the maintenance window.
Maintenance window will start at 7:30 UTC on 24 October 2018 and will end at 15:30 UTC on 25 October 2018.

ColHub Node 3 access restored at 09:47 UTC, 16 October 2018

The access to Node 3 of the Collaborative Data Hub service has been restored at 9:47 UTC of the 16th of October 2018 following the downtime started at 3:00 UTC.
The downtime was caused by a power outage at the data centre hosting the service.
Service is back to nominal operations.

Unscheduled downtime of ColHub Node 3 since 3:00 UTC (16-Oct-2018)

Users are informed that Access Node 3 of the Collaborative Data Hub service is temporarily unreachable since 3:00 UTC, 16 Oct 2018, due to an infrastructure issue at the data centre hosting the service. The operations team is working for restoring the service as soon as possible.
Access nodes 1 and 2 are working nominally.
We apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause to your activities.

Temporary publication delay of Sentinel-2 products in the Data Hubs (4-5 October 2018)

Users are informed that the availability in the Data Hubs of some Sentinel-2 products with sensing time between 07:24 UTC on 04 October and 10:51 UTC on 05 October is delayed due to a contingency at ground segment level.

The issue has been solved and the recovery of the missing products is expected to be completed by Monday 8 October.

Maintenance on ColHub Node 3 on 8 October 2018

Collaborative users are informed that a maintenance activity on the Collaborative Data hub Service Node 3 will start on Monday 8 October 2018 from 07:00 to 10:00 UTC.

A short service downtime might occur and active downloads can be affected for few minutes during the maintenance window.

Collaborative Node 1 and Collaborative Node 2 will not be impacted.

Update of Sentinel-2 Level-2A Processing Baseline

As of 8 October 2018, a new Processing Baseline (02.09) will be deployed for Sentinel-2 Level-2A products.

This new Processing Baseline features the following changes:
  • Improvement of the accuracy of Scene Classification over water, urban and bare areas thanks to the usage of the Climate Change Initiative (CCI) Land Cover data.
  • Improvement of the spatial homogeneity of surface reflectance between adjacent tiles.
Processing Baseline 02.09 remains compliant with the current version of the Product Specification Document (PSD v14.5).

Please note that the SNAP Software is aligned to the new Processing Baseline as well.

Sentinel-3A data unavailability

Due to a Sentinel-3A minor issue occurred at Payload Data Ground Segment level, Level-2 STC SRAL user products for the following sensing time will be delayed:

  • 2018-09-27T19:15 to 2018-09-27T22:37
  • 2018-09-28T13:46 to 2018-09-28T23:02
  • 2018-09-29T15:01 to 2018-09-29T22:35.

Recovery of the products is on-going.

Temporary publication delay of Sentinel-2 L1C products in the Data Hubs

As a consequence of a ground segment anomaly, the availability in the Data Hubs of several Sentinel-2 L1C products with sensing time between 27 September 14:18 UTC and 28 September 07:30 UTC is delayed.

The recovery of the missing products is expected to be completed by Monday 1 October.

Sentinel-3A OLCI: publication on ColHub Node 1 (1 October 2018)

Collaborative users are informed that on the 1st of October 2018 it will be initiated the publication of Sentinel-3A OLCI NRT and NTC products on the Collaborative Hub Access Node 1 for a testing period of 1 week.
During this period, publication and download performances will be monitored.
Following a positive feedback the publication will become nominal and it will be extended to Node 2 and Node 3.

Incorrect Sentinel-2B Level-1C products published in Data Hubs

ColHub Node 3: risk of possible downtimes on 23 September 2018 starting from 11:30 UTC

Collaborative users are informed that there is the risk of possible service downtimes on ColHub Access Node 3 starting from 11:30 UTC of the 23 September 2018 due to a force majeure event that could affect the data centre hosting the service.

Maintenance on ColHub Node 1 on 24-25 September 2018

Collaborative users are informed that a maintenance activity on Access Node 1 of the Collaborative Data hub Service will start on Monday 24 September 2018 at 14:00 UTC until Tuesday 25 September 2018 9:30 UTC.
During the maintenance window products publication will be temporarily suspended and a service downtime will occur on Tuesday, the 25th of September 2018, starting from 7:00 UTC until the end of the maintenance window.
Access nodes 2 and 3 will not be affected by the maintenance and will continue their nominal service.
The maintenance aims to upgrade the data hub software to a new version.

Sentinel-2A Optical Communication Payload (OCP) unavailabilty

The Sentinel-2A Optical Communication Payload (OCP) is unavailable since 20 September 2018 00:36 UTC.

This is currently causing the loss of the Sentinel-2A data downloaded through the European Data Relay System (EDRS).

As a consequence, the Observation Scenario will be temporally reduced. Further news on this anomaly will follow.

Minor Update on Sentinel-2 Level-2A Products

Users are informed that a minor update on Sentinel-2 L2A products is going to be implemented to optimise the encoding of the quality bands (SCL, CLD, SNW, PVI, TCI) over 8 bits instead of 16 bits, in line with the Sentinel-2 L1C products.

All L2A products generated as of 19 September 2018 will feature this small change which is compliant to the SNAP software tool.

Temporary publication delay of Sentinel-2 L2A products in the Data Hubs

The availability in the Data Hubs of several Sentinel-2 L2A products with sensing date between 27 August and 11 September has been delayed due to a combination of contingencies at ground segment level.

The issue has been solved today, 11 September and the recovery of the missing products is ongoing and is expected to be completed by tomorrow 12 September.

Activation of Long Term Archive (LTA) Access

Following the recent upgrades to the Data Hub dissemination points we are pleased to announce that the Long Term Archive (LTA) Access interfaces are ready to be operated, part of the nominal regime to ensure the continued access to all Sentinel Data at all time. As planned, the operations of the data dissemination will soon implement the roll-out of the oldest data from the online access and activation of the interfaces to allow to restore access to historic data from the Long Term Archive (LTA).
The Data Hub dissemination system continues to provide the unified access to all Sentinel Data: the catalogue will continue to publish all data, the discovery and download interfaces (both the graphical user interface and API) provide additional status information to indicate whether the product are online or offline.
Access to the product URL for data that are no longer available online will automatically trigger the retrieval of the data from the LTA, the actual download may be initiated once the data are restored (within minutes to hours). Full details are available in the updated User Guides.

Roll-out of the data will start with the oldest Sentinel-1 RAW data and then will proceed to the other Sentinel product types according to the production volumes and usage patterns.

At least the latest year of Sentinel data will be kept online at all times. The retention period for the various different product types will be tuned according to the usage patterns to ensure efficient access to the most recent and frequently downloaded data, the precise retention period (always greater than one year) is subject to change according to the operational experience.

S3A Data Unavailability on 5 September 2018

Due to a major Sentinel-3A Ground Segment anomaly all L1 and L2 NRT OLC, SLSTR and SRAL user products from sensing time 05-09-2018 19:30 to 06-09-2018 06:06 UTC are missing.

Investigation on root cause is on-going

Sentinel 3A Data Unavailability on 29 August 2018

Due to a planned spacecraft manoeuvre on Sentinel-3A on 29 August 2018 all NRT/NTC/STC OLCI and SRAL user products could be degraded from sensing time 07:38 to 08:13 UTC. NRT/NTC SLSTR user products could be degraded from sensing time 07:38 to 08:47 UTC.
