Software Maintenance on ColHub: 19 April 2018
18 Apr 2018
Collaborative users are informed that on the 19th of April 2018 a data hub software update will be performed on all the three access nodes. The maintenance window will start at 7:00 UTC and end at 15:00 UTC.
The maintenance activity on Node 2 and Node 3 might cause short service downtimes or interrupt for few seconds ongoing downloads.
The update on Node 1 will be performed contextually to the scheduled infrastructure maintenance announced here
The update will not affect the currently available API and GUI interfaces towards the users but is meant for improving the data offer synchronization among the centres.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Complete Single Tile re-packaging of the historical Sentinel-2 Level-1C archive
05 Apr 2018
On 24 April 2018, a campaign will start on the Sentinel Open Data Access Hub and Copernicus Service Data Hub to republish the Sentinel-2 Level-1C products, from their historical format into the ‘Complete Single Tile' format introduced in December 2016.
Users who routinely automate the download of the new products should be aware that a significant volume of historical data will be published, and that these data may be re-downloaded automatically based on their ingestion date unless precaution is taken in the download scripts and workflows.
The affected dataset covers the sensing period from 04 July 2015 to 06 December 2016 (Sentinel-2A only). Approximately 340 thousand existing products will be repackaged creating over 1.3 million new products.
The republishing will cover the reformatting of the historical dataset of Sentinel-2A Level 1C products which do not feature either the Compact naming or the Complete Single Tile packaging characteristics, into their ‘Complete Single Tile' equivalent structure with the Compact naming representation.
The main features of the converted products as compared to their former counterparts are summarised below:
The intended strategy for the replacement; is to publish the re-packaged data in batches. A list of the replacement data and the corresponding new re-packaged data will be available, prior to the publication of each batch. Once the batch has been published, the old format data will be removed, subsequently.
Please stay tuned for more news, before the commencement of the campaign.

- The radiometric and geometric quality of the products will remain unchanged. Coherently with this, the Processing Baseline identifier (PB) tagging every product will also remain unaltered (i.e. expected between PB 02.01 and 02.04), and will keep tracing the quality of the data outlined in the data quality report, in relation to the processing baseline.
- The product formatting will comply with the Sentinel-2 Product Specifications Document (PSD) issue 14.2(*). In line with this format, the repackaging will take care of adding the TCI image inside the new products structure.

Sentinel-3 data unavailability on 14 March 2018

Node 3 of Collaborative Data Hub now available
14 Mar 2018
A third node of the Collaborative Data Hub is now available at the following URL:
https://colhub3.copernicus.eu/dhus
This node offers the same data offer for the collaborative ground segment as the other nodes, including Sentinel-1 NRT data, with a three week rolling window. The node is operated in the GRNET centre and has access via standard internet and Geant. The node operates with a MTU 9000 (jumbo frames).
The third node is intended to replace Node-1 on the TSYS infrastructure, so we would like to advise all users of Node-1 to update their scripts/workflows to access this new node (or Node-2 on the OVH infrastructure). We would note additionally that the Sentinel-1 NRT data on Node-3 is synchronised with copy from the Node-1 so the unique identifier (UUID) for these data are the same on Node-3 as on Node-1 thus facilitating the transfer to this new node.
Pending the confirmation of overall performances for the collaborative data access, the Node-1 is intended to be dismissed at the end of March. A further news will be published to confirm the date.

Data Hub services resume operations
06 Mar 2018
The extended planned maintenance of the Data Hub infrastructure on 5 and 6 March 2018 has been closed, and all services have been resumed as of 09:00 CET today.
Unfortunately the upgrade of the storage infrastructure in view of the upcoming Sentinel-5P production, Sentinel-2 L2 global production and Sentinel-3B was not completed as planned, and a subsequent maintenance will be announced following the anomaly root cause analysis review with the infrastructure vendor.
The backlog of production publication that has accumulated during the maintenance period will be gradually recovered and we expect the nominal timeliness of the publication to be recovered within the next 24 hours.
We apologise for the inconvenience.

Data Hub Infrastructure Maintenance extended to the 6th of March 2018
05 Mar 2018
The scheduled maintenance of the 5th of March 2018 has been extended to the 6th of March 2018. The maintenance consists in the upgrade of the storage infrastructure in view of the upcoming Sentinl-5p production, Sentinel-2 L2 global production and Sentinel-3B. Infrastructure incidents have occurred during the maintenance slowing down the upgrade process. The root cause has been identified and system engineers are currently working for restoring the situation as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause to your activities.

Upcoming Sentinel-2 Level-2A product evolution
02 Mar 2018
Bridging from the initial Level-2A pilot production started in May 2017, we are pleased to confirm the long-term maintenance of the Level-2A as an operational product starting from mid-March this year, as well as its forthcoming evolution with systematic worldwide coverage planned for deployment by the summer.
The operational Level-2A production will remain relying on the Sen2Cor surface reflectance and classification algorithm that will include a set of small evolutions in line with the long-term perspective of this product.
Along this plan, it is highlighted that as of mid-March the Level-2A production (still limited to the Euro-Mediterranean region) will feature an updated product format:
Detailed information on the operational Level-2A product format is provided in the Sentinel-2 Products Specification Document (PSD version 14.4). Corresponding XSD schemas are also provided with the PSD document as attachments. In addition, a sample product is available for download.
Regarding the algorithm, this evolution features the following changes:
The transition to the operational production will tag every new Level-2A product with the processing baseline number 02.07 (*). It is highlighted that the Level-2A processing baseline numbering is product specific, i.e. the Level-2A processing baseline number is and will be maintained independently from that of the Level-1C product.
The precise date of the transition will be announced shortly.
Updated versions of SNAP software Level-2A readers and Sen2Cor stand-alone processor will be made available before the release of the products.
